Out with the Old, in with the New!

I'm completely aware that it's been 3 months since I've posted anything on this space. I feel bad for letting it go to the wolves! However many, many things have changed since the last time I posted.

#1. WE GOT MARRIED!
On September 28, I became Mrs. Kuhn when I walked down the aisle to my best friend. It was a beautiful day--80 degrees, sunny, and breezy. The day could not have gone ANY more perfect. We did both almost pass out, but that's life. Now we have a story to tell when we tell people about our wedding. I'm so elated to finally be Z's wife, and I can't wait to see what the next little while brings us.

#2. We honeymooned in Turks and Caicos for a week. It was my first time out of the country and my husband's first time in the Caribbean. We spent most of our time in our bathing suits, either drinking, eating, laying out on the beach, or reading...or a combination of all of those things. I can't say enough good things about the resort that we stayed in, Seven Stars Resort. If you're looking to get away and you want to go to the Caribbean, I 100% recommend Turks and Caicos and the Seven Stars Resort. Our suite was amazing, the staff was super friendly, and the food/alcohol was TO DIE FOR. Not to mention the super delicious sunrises/sunsets that we got to see while we were there.

#3. Speaking of "what life brings us"...we've also made some job changes! I stepped out of the classroom for a little while to finish planning our wedding. When we came back from our honeymoon, I stumbled upon an open door--and I walked right in. I am now teaching First Grade in the city that I grew up in! It's such a blessing, mostly because we've had some unanticipated things come along that have affected us. I'm just thankful that I was able to find a job so quickly and that I was so fortunate to be given this opportunity at a great school and with a great team. I just got my kiddos this past Thursday, and they are the sweetest thing on this planet. I think I'm going to do just fine in first grade. Plus, it's fun being called "Mrs. Kuhn" now instead of "Miss Brown". :)

Besides those three major things, we've spent the last month in marital bliss--spending time with our friends and family, having date nights at home, celebrating our cousin's 2nd birthday, and trying to get things organized around our house. My next big task is to try and get Thank You cards out--I was quick about it after my bridal showers, but I started work the week after we came back from the honeymoon and I just haven't had any motivation since. My goal is also to hopefully post at least once a week on this poor, neglected space. We shall see what happens.

What I'm Loving

It's Wednesday! Halfway through the week...although I suppose it doesn't really matter now that us unemployed teacher folk are on summer break. Anyway, here's what I'm loving this week +  a photo dump all in one.

I'm loving that in just 4 days we will be leaving for our annual July 4 weekly vacation to the beach with my family.

I'm loving that I've gotten so much done for the wedding this week...I got my undergarments, my veil, shoes to wear after I kick my heels off, and we finished our registry. Tonight we have our first dance lessons! I've also fallen in love with a few hair styles.

I'm loving that I get to read so much during summer--I've already finished two books in less than two weeks! I laid in bed and read for about two hours this morning.
I'm loving that my sister and I had a girls' day yesterday. We grabbed lunch at a local brewery and then headed out to do wedding stuff.
\

I'm loving that I've also done a lot of organizing this week...I tackled the master bathroom, my car, and my closet on Monday and also a few other random places. I found 8 pair of shoes and way too many clothes in my car when I cleaned it out.

I'm loving that I've started running again. I absolutely LOVE the Couch25k app on my phone...I'm in week 3 and can run 3 minutes without stopping (I know...it's still terrible. But I'm getting there!). I've always loved to run but my metabolism bottomed out after college. womp womp. I was also able to run outside on Saturday. Although I didn't run as far--because my hip was NOT  fan of those hills I was running on.

And finally, I'm loving that my best friend finally got married last weekend! She and her husband have been together since high school. It's so great to see them so much in love. Plus, who doesn't love a great excuse to dress up?

And of course, I'm always loving my sweet fiance.
(Only 94 more days!!!!)

What I'm Loving

Ya'll. I'm such a slacker. Time for a major life update/what I'm loving!

  1. First and foremost...I quit my job! I decided that I needed to to take some time off after this school year to get ready for the wedding. I thought I would be really excited to not have a job and have so much free time...turns out, I'm just really bored. I feel like I'm either sitting around the house watching TV/getting fat or out shopping and spending too much money. After much thought and consideration, I've decided to look for a job that will fit my schedule. I want to teach at Year Round school!
  2. Plans for the wedding are coming along swimmingly...I've taken care of a lot of things in the week and a half that I've been out of school. I applied for my passport, ordered the groom's cake, and purchased my shoes and dresses for my bridal shower and rehearsal dinner.
  3. We scheduled a dance lesson! Neither Z nor I have very much rhythm, so we figured it would probably be a smart idea for us to get some guidance before we embarrass ourselves during our first dance.
  4. My best friend is getting married this weekend! I'm so excited. Although I'm not part of the wedding party, I still feel very much included. Jenn and I have gotten very close in the last few months. She'll be in my wedding in September. I'll make sure to post pictures.
  5. My allergies/sinuses have been insane in the last few weeks, and Z thinks it's possible that I could be allergic to the cat. I need to call the allergist and get tested just so that I can find out what I'm allergic to--but you can believe I will NOT be getting rid of my sweet kitty! I really hope it's something else that I'm allergic to.
I think I've covered everything major that's going on in my life now...so let's skip ahead to What I'm Loving!
Link up with us!

...I'm loving that I've already managed to find dresses for both my bridal shower and my rehearsal dinner!
...I'm loving my wedding shoes!
...I'm loving that I'm finally running again. I took time off during the school year (bad decision) and made excuses about how I didn't have time but now that I'm doing it again I feel so much better!
(Couch to 5k app on my phone...best thing since sliced bread)

...I'm loving that I figured out how to turn my straightener into a curling iron. I know, I'm late to hop on this bandwagon. But it gives me many more options for my hair!

And as always...I'm loving my wonderful fiance, even when he doesn't cooperate for pictures!
During his birthday dinner...perfectly describes our relationship :)

What I'm Loving

Happy Wednesday, blog friends! We're halfway through the week and halfway through April...the summer is quickly approaching! With that being said, I'm loving many things that have to do with the summer today!

I'm loving that there are exactly 7 weeks until the last day of school...I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!

I'm loving that the weather had finally turned warm for good. It's been nice to be able to wear skirts and dresses to work! My piggies have been happy to be free on the weekends, too. I live for the days that I can wear sandals. Soon enough they'll be free every day!

I'm loving that there are two half days this week...they gave us time off for parent teacher conferences, but since my team is so awesome and we have the majority of ours done, we get to leave early!!

I'm loving that I get to go back to visit our wedding venue on Friday with our planner...I can't wait to see it again!

I'm also loving that there are only 164 days until our BIG day....I can't wait to marry my best friend and become Mrs. Kuhn.

I'm loving that I get to spend lots of time with friends and family this weekend! Sissy has a horse show and my bff is having a bridal shower. It shall be an exciting weekend!

and as always, I'm loving my sweet sweet hubby to be.

:)

Finish The Sentence

I know, I know...bad Katie. Haven't posted in forever. However, spring break is next week and I'm planning to do much blog-posting while we're away in heaven at the beach. :)

As I was catching up on my blogs tonight, I stumbled upon this fun link-up called Finish The Sentence. After stalking reading into the blogs of the hosts a little, I found out how hilarious and great their blogs are. Head over to Jake or Holly's blogs to see the fun! :)

button

1. If calories didn't count, I would eat...thin mints all day, every day! Not to mention drinking all the wine and eating all the ice cream and chocolate that I possibly could. The list could go on and on. Man, I love food.

2. On my prom night...I went midnight bowling and my mom cooked us breakfast at like 4am on my junior year. Senior year was a MUCH different story. There's this drink called Green Monster that I will NEVER, NEVER drink ever again in my life. It consists of Mountain Dew, green kool-aid, and some kind of  liquor. We went to a party and I drank waaaaay to much. My prom date was driving, and on the way home I proceeded to make him pull over so that I could puke. I spent the night at his house (WITH OTHER PEOPLE) and I'm not certain that his mom knew I was drunk. I got up and left before they all woke up the next morning. Fun times.
...oh, back when I was tan AND skinny.

3. When I go to the store I always buy....random things that always happen to somehow mysteriously find themselves in my cart. Oh, and diet coke. Always diet coke.

4. Family functions typically...consist of some sort of shenanigans that only they would understand. Speaking of shenanigans, I shall be joining the previously mentioned family for 7 days of those shenanigans in less than 48 hours! Watch out, world.

5. I think my blog readers...have given up on me. Whomp whomp.

6. I'd much rather be...Knee deep in the water somewhere, got the blue sky, breeze and it don't seem fair, the only worry in the world is the tide gonna reach my chair. Sunrise, there's a fire in the sky
never been so happy never felt so high and I think I might've found me my own kind of paradise.
ZBB, you have my heart.

7. I have an obsession with...my fiance, cats (yep. Crazy cat lady right here), Criminal Minds, Shemar Moore, the beach, and diet coke. Give me a combination of any or all of those things and I'm pretty much set. Come on, who doesn't love this face?

8. My work friends...probably think I'm a basketcase and a psycho, but they're the only thing that gets me through the day! Toughest year of teaching. EVER.

9. When I created my facebook account...I was really excited because I had just been accepted to college and could FINALLY get a facebook account. Priorities, right?

10. My least favorite word is....crotch. Always has been, always will be. I refer to that general area as my "lady parts". It gives me the heebie-jeebies just typing it.

11. I really don't remember...much of anything that requires short term memory. I've got the short term memory of a gnat. However, ask me about something that happened a while ago, and I'll give you ridiculously tiny details that people think i'm crazy for remembering and then I get these funny looks. Both a blessing and a curse. So if you want to know what I had for lunch today, ask me next week.

12. Justin Bieber...is REALLY AWESOME and yes I'm 25 and YES i will rock out to a JB song on the radio. Go ahead, judge me.

Life Lately

Ya'll. Life is nuts. Let me tell you. I'm working 50 hours a week plus trying to plan a wedding and still have a life. Yeah, right. So, blogging has taken a backseat for now. What's been going on, you ask? Well, let me tell you. I know you're all dying to know.

Wedding:

  • We have [hopefully] chosen a DJ and we found our wedding rings the other day!
  • We hit a bump in the road with accommodations for the bridal party--so we're searching for somewhere in Wilmington, NC if anyone has any suggestions.
  • I'm in search of a flower girl dress. There are so many cute ones out there but I'm not about to pay a trillion dollars for a dress for a 2 year old. She's cute enough as it is ;)
  • I found my shoes....check them out!
  • I had a meeting with my planner last week and we've set the "vision" for the wedding and are going to start working on the smaller things soon...I'm getting so excited!

Work:
  • We just had our last round of "Mock" testing (aka the practice for the real EOG) last week and my kids did really well! I'm so stinkin' proud of them.
  • My closest girlfriend at work just took another job. Her last day was Friday. I'm not sure how I'm going to feel tomorrow when I walk in and she's not there. I've thrown myself a pity party but the show must go on!
  • Next week we have an assembly to celebrate the end of Black History month and everything that the students have done. On our wing, the kids wrote a paper about a historical figure and created a 3D monument. I'm really excited to see what the kids have come up with!
Life:
  • I've been sick for a few days now....like, terrible cold sick. I can't stop coughing and I've gone through an entire bottle of OJ and a box of tissues since Friday. I can't seem to catch a break these days!
  • Speaking of sick, it's making work that much harder...I'm tired all the time and have no motivation to do much else after work. Blegh.
  • My birthday is coming up--one week! I'll be 25. Half a century. Holy moly. I'm having a tough time coping.
That's about it. Life is crazy. So are my pets...the dog is rolling around on the floor right now making snorting noises and I'm sure the cat is into some mischief somewhere. Hooray for leftover Chinese for dinner tonight and watching last night's Walking Dead! :)

Friday's Letters

I'm sitting in front of my computer at 7:45am on a Friday morning, when I would normally be greeting students at the door. I am thankful for a two hour delay but secretly I'm severely disappointed that we didn't get a day off. Also, I know I'm a slacker. I haven't posted in forever. But let's get real. My life isn't all that exciting. I work, I come home and spend time with my fiance, and I spend my weekends working from home. Exciting, right? Wrong. Anyway...here's my contribution this week. Linking up with Ashley from The Sweet Season for Friday's Letters! :)

Dear Friday, thank you for finally showing up! I was beginning to worry that you weren't coming. Dear so called "snow", you were supposed to get me a day off. Not just a delay. Once again, I'm disappointed. Dear Cinnabon creamer, thank you for making my coffee so delicious in the morning. I'm forever grateful. Dear alarm clock, I forgot to reset you last night because of the delay and you woke me up at my normal time. For this, I am not happy with myself. Dear anxiety, stop. Just stop. There is nothing more to be said there. Dear children, please behave today. I know you are excited that it snowed last night, but I am not prepared to deal with drama today. It's Friday! Let's all be happy. Dear newly instated every-Friday-staff jeans day rule, not having to agonize over 50 million different choices of what to wear on Friday morning makes my life just slightly better. And for that, I am thankful. Now I just throw on a school shirt and my jeans. Win. Dear fiance, you are sexy when you work out (which is what you are currently doing). Also, I'm proud of you for acing your annual review. I always knew you were top notch, but now everyone else finally acknowledges it, too. I love you.

I leave  you with this. I know, we're adorable.
